We found this cool story about Teddy Bears in the Greenville Advocate, an online newspaper for
Mrs. Holyfield invited her kin-da-garden class to bring their Teddy Bears and Stuffies to class, so the Stuffies could spend the night all by themselves. She bribeded the class by telling them, (how else could anyone leave their Stuffies behind?) if they let their Stuffies do this, the kids could bring in their Mommy’s and Daddy’s to school the next day, and they could all have a Teddy Bear picnic. It workeded! The Stuffies were left alone all night in a kin-da-garden classroom to have a party! Wouldn’t that be fun?!
Well, it woulda been, but Mrs. Holyfield was sneaky, and didn’t tell the Stuffies that she and her hubby were a’gonna take pictures and tattle on them! (We don’t really mind. We like to have fun and like to have our pictures taken!) When the kids came in the next morning, they got to play detectives and guesses what the Stuffies did during the night!
Anyway, ‘cording to the story (we have the link, but are telling it here, in case the story is ever taken off the site), they had quite an adventure. We’ll quote the story –
“The teddy bears graciously accepted their invitations and were allowed to spend the night in the classroom without their children. They enjoyed a pizza party and played with the toys at kindergarten; some especially liked the dolls and made sure that the dollies were properly tucked in for the night. They played in the living center, read to each other at the reading table, shared the books, and joined in the games; but some became just a little boisterous and climbed up the wall to pull the fire alarm. Some of the teddies went a little wild, as they often do when left without supervision, but a local firefighter, Michael Hollyfield, came by the school and gave a lesson in fire safety.
Later in the evening, the police department responded to a call for excessive noise during the pizza party. After the adults visited the school, the teddies who had become a little rowdy, settled down for the night. It should be noted that some of the teddies always do the right thing, no matter what.
There was fun for all the bears at the slumber party, and even more fun for the students when to their dismay and surprise they saw the evidence of the adventures of their teddies. There were two huge bulletin boards and the door decorated with pictures of the escapades of their teddy bears. The students shrieked with joy to find a picture of his or her special teddy bear caught in the act at school. These pictures will be included in the scrapbooks of memories for the students and parents to treasure. There were still traces of evidence of the late night pizza party and other antics for the students to see. After the students discussed the pictures and the events of the prior evening, they all worked together to put their classroom back to order.”
After that, they had the picnic!
For the record, of course, we get wild – we’re bears! We also think the only reason the fire alarm was pulled was a’cuz the Stuffies were beary young, so followed the directions when they saw them – “Pull!” Peoples have to a’member – we are young. We don’t know all about how to live in Peoples World, and really, Peoples are hard to understand. Who’da thunk police come for noise? Police don’t come when Peoples make noise – do they?
One last note, any other teachers having a sleep over for Stuffies, let us know! Sounds like fun!
