Support Our Soldiers

  • Mood:
  • Weather:

It’s a scary year in the United States, and, from what we understand, in the United Kingdom, too! You see, the United States isn’t the only country sending troops to the Middle East to fight against the terrorists. Around the world, other countries are helping by sending their troops, too. The United Kingdom, a land with plenty of Teddy Bears, is one of our allies in this war.

So, how is this scary? Not only can those soldiers get hurt or killed in that fight, although all of our citizens have yellow ribbons and signs declaring, “Support Our Troops,” many don’t know what that means, or don’t know how to support them.

Traditionally, ever since our Civil War, Peoples in our country don’t want wars to last for more then a couple of weeks, if they even want that. It doesn’t matter why we are at war to them; they just want no wars for any reason! Now the men and women in our armed services don’t want war either, but they do want to protect our country. We are most humbled to have them signing up to go into our armed service to protect everybody and us! They are willing to risk their lives to protect us. In the war in Iraq, and the hunting in Afghanistan, they are fighting to keep terrorists from attacking us again on our soil! Good idea!

The scary part is that this is the year Peoples vote for our next President. (They don’t let Teddy Bears vote, yet. They don’t make us pay taxes either, so it’s OK.) It doesn’t matter which person in the Democratic party gets elected, since they both want to end the war in Iraq, within a year of taking office, even if Iraq isn’t ready for us to leave, and even when terrorists are still trying to kill Iraqis and our soldiers. (Yes, we know it was getting worser and worser, but it has finally started to get better and better in the last year.)

The Democratic politicians can say, “Support our Troops” all they want, but ending the war before we finish what we started let’s the terrorists win, and begs them to come back here and attack us again. The troops know that is the same as saying, “What you did, didn’t matter.”

Sadly, the Republican politicians aren’t much better at supporting our troops. They fight over how much money is needed, what the troops need to fight the war, and skimp on helping the troops when they return home and need health services. The politicians don’t like to spend enough money to have enough staff, rooms, supplies, and to get the wounded vets back and forth to the Veteran Administration Hospitals. Don’t get us wrong – the hospitals have beary good doctors and staff, but their caseload includes recent vets, and older vets, but they can’t help them all as quickly as they should be able to do.

Sooooo, what can we do? Support our Troops! If you are an American, visit the Disabled American Veterans’ site, to find out what kind of help they need, and help them! We posted their link on the top of our blog, so you can visit whenever you can help.

So, we bet you’re wondering about why we brought up the UK, too. Their politicians seem to be as “thrifty” as ours are when it comes to supporting the troops. Fortunately, there is a beary wise charity there (wise, because they enlist the help of bears, of course) that is raising money to help the veterans hurt the worse to regain their independence, too. Since many of our beary buddies are in the UK and the UK is helping in the fight against terrorism so much, we are hoping bears and Peoples will donate, or buy something, to aid Help for Heroes. (Their link is on top of our site, too, so you can donate whenever you can.)
