One of the herbs we grew this year was something called Parcel. It tasteses like celery and parsley. We found a recipe online to make celery soup that included adding parsley. We were going to make it half with real celery and half with parcel, but our celery froze up in the back of the refrigerator, so we only had a little celery and a lot of parsley.
Since creamy soup needs milk, it has to cook slowly, so the milk doesn’t scald or curdle. Took us half an hour to cut up all the parcel and two hours to cook it.
Last year, we grew lemon balm, which was a’posed to make ice tea lemony. It was awful! Tasteded like chemicals. Wasteded a batch of ice tea, because it tasteded too bad to drink it. We didn’t grow any lemon balm this year, cuz we didn’t like the taste! A little parcel in a salad tasteses good. A lot of parcel in a soup tasteses as bad as lemon balm. Yucky! We had to throw it all away.
We’ve had a hard freeze now, and we still have lots of parcel nice and green outside. It’s only purpose now is to protect our baby hummingbird bush from winds.
