The deal was, if Daddy and Mommy could rest up enough yesterday not to be too sore, they would take us to see the movie we wanted to see the mostest, Over the Hedge! Well, they were being beary good all day, until the mailman came. Mommy bought the Garden Gals a bunch of plants on Ebay on the first of May, so, of course, they had to all come yesterday! When we buy plants, we have a few days before they have to be transplanted, but some of these plants were bare-rooted, others had beary little soil with them, and, well, you just can’t leave a cactus lying on its side!
Mommy tried to be good, so she said that she would just plant them all in the same planter. We were actually going to let her do this, until we remembered, “What planter was big enough for all these new plants?”
Well, our Mommy is beary industrious and has been receiving e-mails from a company that promises points every time you visit one of their sponsors, and promises even more points, every time you accept one of the sponsors’ offer! (Bmail us, -- SpauldingTBear@yahoo.com -- if you want to join this offer. Mommy gets points if she can get anyone over 18 to sign up and do it too!) She’s been saving her points ever since last fall to buy a day of help from a maid, but, when she went to check back to see how many points she needed for this, she discovered that they didn’t have the offer anymore! Well, the Garden Gals bought an assortment of plants, including a Dwarf Lilac bush that would only grow four feet high, but, even at four feet, it would need a fairly big pot. Mommy and Spaulding spent hours on the Internet trying to find beary big pots for beary little money, finally found a company that sells pots to nurseries! She used the points to get two web certificates for a total of $50, went to that web site, bought one 3’ X 3’ pot (for the lilac, the Mediterranean pink, and the jasmine vine for out front) and three 2’ X 2’ planters for $30, including shipping!!! (We’re saving the rest of the money to buy cool planter holders for the garden, when she saves up enough points for another certificate.)
When Mommy said she would put in all the new plants into a planter, we knew she would use one of those beary big planters, which would make her too sore, so we did it for her! It was hard work too, since we had to fill up the bottom with Styrofoam peanuts, (none of the plants would root down 2 feet), and then we had to mix up compost with potting soil, and add Peralite and different kinds of fertilizers. The two bare-rooted plants needed to soak in water all night, but we planted the other nine plants into the pot, until they were comfortable enough to be transplanted again to their final homes.
Good thing that the Delsea Drive-In is an hour away! We needed the nap after we raided Brooklawn Diner’s hotdogs for dinner, when Daddy and Mommy stopped there for dinner on the way to the Drive-In!
We got to the Drive-In 45 minutes early, and good thing too! This was our fourth trip to this Drive-In and the first time it was crowded. We had to wait in line to get in, and poor Mommy! She stood in line for 45 minutes to get our hotdogs, popcorn and soda! She missed the first part of Over the Hedge! We actually had to catch her up to where we were in the storyline!
It was a much better movie then
We also liked MI: III, even if it was a little predictable! It had lots of action that any guy has to love, although Mommy wasn’t beary impressed. But, then again, we didn’t expect Mommy to like it, since she doesn’t like Tom Cruise, or anything he’s been in since his first movie, Risky Business. Mission Impossible is definitely a guy’s movie! Over the Hedge is for everyone in the family.
We don’t remember the ride home, but we do vaguely remember sneaking our family back into the house, before Mommy and Daddy noticed that we took them all. The Garden Gals tell us that they carried us into the house, but we don’t remember that at all. We do remember waking up in our own beds this morning. It was a beary good, but long, night! Can’t wait to go again! Whoever thought up “Drive-In Movies” surely must have had Teddy Bears in mind!
